Omada Health, the virtual between-visit healthcare provider, has appointed Thomas Tsang, MD, MPH as Chief Medical Officer.

A nationally recognized leader in clinical innovation, health policy, and digital health transformation, Dr. Tsang brings extensive experience spanning academia, care delivery, and health information technology. In his new role, he will lead Omada’s clinical organization, advancing clinical quality, outcomes, strategy, and innovation across the company’s multi-condition virtual care platform.

Dr. Tsang currently serves on the boards of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). He is the founding CEO of Valera Health, where he guided the organization through rapid growth—raising more than USD 75 million in funding and scaling to over 500 employees in just five years. Valera’s pioneering approach to delivering high-quality behavioral health care for high-acuity patients earned national recognition from Digital Health New York and Fast Company.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Tsang served as Chief Medical Officer of Merck Healthcare Services and Solutions, focusing on digital health innovation. As Medical Director at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology under the Obama Administration, he helped design the national framework for electronic health records to strengthen care coordination. He also contributed to shaping the Affordable Care Act as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/Institute of Medicine Health Policy Fellow with the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee. His career began as Chief Medical Officer of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, where he later served on the New York City Board of Health.

Dr. Tsang’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Omada Health. The company is rapidly expanding its GLP-1 Care Track—serving more than 100,000 members—and enhancing its AI capabilities through innovations like OmadaSpark and Meal Map. His leadership will support Omada’s mission to integrate advanced technology with human-led care to drive engagement, deliver measurable outcomes, and shape the future of virtual chronic care.
