Humana Inc. has named Shantanu Nundy, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer, with the appointment taking effect on 31 August. A practising physician, healthcare executive and technology leader, he has spent his career using technology to make care better, simpler and more human.
He arrives from Accolade, a personalised healthcare navigation and care delivery company serving millions of Americans, where he was Executive Vice President of Care Delivery and Chief Health Officer. There he led a technology-driven overhaul of the member care experience.
Dr. Nundy has kept up clinical work throughout, practising primary care at a community health centre and hospital medicine at a regional health system. He has written two books and holds adjunct faculty appointments at Stanford Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.
He took his bachelor's degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his medical degree at Johns Hopkins and his MBA at the University of Chicago.
