BrainCheck Inc., a digital platform for cognitive assessment and care, has appointed Stephen Bekanich, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer.
In this role, Dr. Bekanich will lead the company’s clinical strategy and support the expansion of its value-based and collaborative care initiatives as BrainCheck continues its national growth.
Dr. Bekanich brings decades of experience in geriatric medicine, palliative care, accountable care organizations, and health system leadership. Earlier in his career, he served as CEO of Ascension Health’s Texas ACO and as Chief Medical Officer of the Cigna–Ascension Health insurance joint venture, where he led large-scale value-based care initiatives across diverse patient populations.
In his new role, Dr. Bekanich will focus on aligning BrainCheck’s platform with value-based care frameworks, enabling the integration of cognitive assessment and care planning tools into coordinated, long-term patient management strategies. His leadership is expected to enhance clinical outcomes while supporting healthcare providers in delivering more connected and efficient care.
Dr. Bekanich joins BrainCheck during a period of strong growth. In 2025, more than 150 new practices and health systems adopted the platform, expanding its reach to over 500 practices nationwide and strengthening partnerships with primary care groups, health systems, and value-based care organizations.
