The Cigna Group, a global health company, has appointed Dr. Amy Flaster as Chief Medical Officer, expanding her leadership role across the enterprise.
Dr. Flaster, who joined the organization last year as Chief Medical Officer of Cigna Healthcare, will now serve in an enterprise-wide capacity spanning both Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth.
In her expanded role, Dr. Flaster will lead efforts to advance clinical excellence, introduce innovative care models, strengthen and grow clinical teams, and leverage technology to support whole-person health. She will report to Brian Evanko, President and Chief Operating Officer of The Cigna Group, and will play a central role in shaping the company’s integrated clinical strategy.
Since joining Cigna, Dr. Flaster has been instrumental in advancing programs designed to improve health outcomes and affordability for customers and clients. Her leadership has helped guide the organization’s approach to integrated care delivery, behavioral health, and digital health innovation, reinforcing Cigna’s focus on value-based, patient-centered care.
Before joining Cigna Healthcare, Dr. Flaster served as Chief Medical Officer at ConcertoCare, led population health initiatives at Health Catalyst, and held hospital leadership roles at Mass General Brigham. She is a practicing primary care physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and holds both an M.D. and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.
Her appointment follows the departure of Dr. David Brailer, Executive Vice President and Chief Health Officer, who has served since 2022 and played a key role in shaping The Cigna Group’s enterprise clinical strategy. The announcement also coincides with leadership transitions supporting continued innovation, digital transformation, and improved access to affordable, high-quality care across the organization.
