Olympus Corporation, a global MedTech leader dedicated to advancing healthcare outcomes, has appointed Slawek Kierner as Chief Digital Officer – Smart Connected Care (CDO-SCC).
In this newly defined role, Kierner will report to Chief Technology Officer Syed Naveed and will lead Olympus’ digital transformation efforts in integrating AI, robotics, and medical devices to create an intelligent, connected care ecosystem.
Kierner will be responsible for advancing Olympus' Intelligent Endoscopy Ecosystem, centered on the company’s flagship OLYSENSE platform - a cloud-based digital suite designed to seamlessly connect endoscopic devices, robotics, and software solutions. His leadership will support Olympus’ strategic shift from a hardware-centric approach to a dynamic, software-driven model delivering continuous, always-on innovation.
A recognized leader in digital health, AI, and IoMT (Internet of Medical Things), Kierner joins Olympus from Intuitive Inc., where he served as Senior Vice President of Digital Experiences and Machine Learning Platforms. There, he led the company’s AI and data strategy, launching the AI Suite alongside Intuitive’s latest robotic systems, while managing a global IoMT infrastructure connecting more than 10,000 surgical robots and simulation platforms.
Previously, Kierner served as Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Humana, where he led the insurer’s cloud transformation and built enterprise-level AI and data platforms. He also held senior roles at Microsoft, where he spearheaded applied machine learning and analytics for the Business Applications group and was a founding member of the Power BI team.
Kierner holds a PhD in Clinical AI Architectures, dual master’s degrees in Mechatronics and Management, and has completed executive education at Harvard Business School. He is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
