Resitu, a Swedish MedTech innovator focused on transforming breast tumor excision, has appointed Åsa Runnäs as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The appointment marks a pivotal step in the company’s transition from development to commercialization of its first-in-class device for the minimally invasive removal of breast lesions.
A core investor and founding member of Resitu, Runnäs previously served as the company’s Chief Strategy Officer. With more than two decades of experience in medical device regulation and commercialization, including leadership roles as CEO of several MedTech consultancy firms, she brings deep expertise to guide Resitu’s next phase of growth.
The appointment comes at a key moment, as Resitu prepares for the commercial launch of its novel vacuum-assisted, handheld device, designed for the full excision of breast tumors for diagnostic purposes. The tool offers a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgical biopsies, aiming to enhance precision, patient comfort, and diagnostic accuracy.
Interest in the technology is already building. Resitu recently showcased the device during hands-on workshops with 40 leading breast surgeons at the prestigious Uppsala Breast Meeting held at Uppsala University. The demonstrations highlighted the simplicity and clinical potential of the system in real-world settings.
Developed in collaboration with top breast surgeons, the device addresses a global need for effective, efficient, and patient-centered tumor excision solutions. Under Runnäs’s leadership, Resitu is committed to making the instrument accessible to healthcare systems worldwide as swiftly as possible.
