Brian McNamara Appointed CEO Designate of New Independent Consumer Healthcare Company

Brian McNamara has been appointed as CEO Designate of the new independent Consumer Healthcare company that will result from GSK's planned demerger of its Consumer Healthcare division in 2022. The demerger will distribute at least 80% of GSK’s holding in the business to shareholders, and the new company is expected to achieve a premium listing on the London Stock Exchange.

The new Consumer Healthcare company, with a portfolio generating over £10 billion in sales in 2020, will be a global leader with brands such as Sensodyne, Voltaren, Panadol, and Centrum, and major presences in the US and China. McNamara, who has led GSK Consumer Healthcare since 2015, will leverage his extensive experience in consumer health and fast-moving consumer goods to drive the company’s growth as an independent entity.

Before joining GSK, McNamara had a successful career at Novartis and Procter & Gamble, where he gained expertise in OTC divisions, brand marketing, and leadership. He has also served on various industry boards, including the Consumer Goods Forum and the Global Self Care Federation.

The appointment follows a comprehensive search process by the GSK Board, which is also working on appointing a Chair and forming an independent Board for the new Consumer Healthcare company.
