Valo Health has appointed Karin Conde-Knape, Ph.D., as its new Chief Scientific Officer (CSO).
The appointment strengthens the company’s leadership as it advances its mission to use human data and artificial intelligence to accelerate drug discovery and development.
Dr. Conde-Knape brings more than two decades of experience in drug development and translational science, with a strong focus on patient-centered innovation. She joins Valo following a long tenure at Novo Nordisk, where she held several senior leadership roles, including Senior Vice President of Early Development and Global Drug Discovery. In these roles, she led research and early development initiatives across multiple therapeutic areas, leveraging both internal research capabilities and external partnerships to drive innovation.
At Valo, Dr. Conde-Knape will oversee the company’s scientific strategy and research execution. She will play a key role in advancing Valo’s diverse portfolio of internal programs and global collaborations aimed at delivering transformative therapies to patients.
Her appointment follows the planned retirement of Mike Graziano, Ph.D., who currently serves as Valo’s Chief Scientific Officer and will transition into the role of Scientific Advisor. During his tenure, Dr. Graziano played an important role in advancing the company’s scientific platform, partnerships, and internal drug development programs.
Dr. Conde-Knape holds a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry from University of Connecticut. Earlier in her career, she worked at Hoffmann-La Roche in cardiovascular and metabolism discovery and early development programs, where she led pharmacology and biomarker research teams. She also led external innovation initiatives in Europe and Asia-Pacific for cardiovascular and metabolism programs at Johnson & Johnson.
Recognized for her contributions to life sciences innovation, Dr. Conde-Knape has been named among the “Fiercest Women in Life Sciences” by Fierce Pharma and listed by Endpoints News as one of the top 20 women advancing biopharma research and development.
