Picard Medical, Inc., the parent company of SynCardia Systems, has announced plans to begin rolling out an additional FDA-cleared accessory for the SynCardia Total Artificial Heart (STAH). The update involves the incorporation of CPC1 Connector Covers into the existing STAH design.
The CPC Connector Covers are intended to improve patient comfort during everyday activities while further supporting system safety and reliability.
The covers provide an added layer of protection over the metal release buttons on the STAH connector system, which links SynCardia Drivers to the pneumatic drive cannulas of the artificial heart ventricles.
SynCardia has confirmed that all sales and clinical staff have completed the necessary training ahead of implementation.
The company will also work closely with hospitals and clinical teams to provide training resources, guidance on implementation, and support for existing patients where appropriate.
SynCardia Systems is known for developing the world’s first total artificial heart approved by both the US Food and Drug Administration and Health Canada, and the latest update reflects its continued focus on patient safety, usability, and clinical reliability.
