Grey Matters Health Inc. has installed its first brain-dedicated Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner at its flagship NovaScan Neuroimaging Clinics™ facility in Davie, Florida, supporting the company's expansion into specialised neuroimaging services in the US.
The clinic is expected to become the first in the country dedicated exclusively to brain PET imaging for neurological disorders.
The facility will feature the FDA-cleared CareMiBrain™ PET Brain Scanning System, which produces high-quality brain images without the need for an integrated CT component.
The dedicated system is designed to reduce radiation exposure by approximately 25% compared with conventional PET/CT scanners while offering a seated scanning experience to improve patient comfort.
The clinic will focus on the early detection of Alzheimer's disease through beta-amyloid imaging and will also provide imaging services for frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson's disease, Lewy body dementia and selected neuro-oncology applications.
The growing use of brain PET imaging is being driven by recently approved Alzheimer's therapies, including Leqembi and Kisunla, which require confirmation of beta-amyloid plaques before treatment can begin and continued imaging during treatment.
Located within the HCA Florida University Medical Office Building, the clinic is completing licensing, construction and technical installation ahead of its official launch.
Grey Matters plans to announce the opening date and the commencement of patient referrals once all regulatory and operational requirements have been completed.
