Introduction:
Tampa General Hospital (TGH), Lifepoint Behavioral Health, and USF Health convened to launch the construction of the TGH Behavioral Health Hospital
Features:
Tampa General Hospital (TGH), in conjunction with Lifepoint Behavioral Health, marked the commencement of the TGH Behavioral Health Hospital construction in Tampa's Medical and Research District.
This healthcare institution stands as a pioneering endeavor in Florida, being the sole freestanding academic medical behavioral health hospital in the state.
Tampa General Hospital and Lifepoint Behavioral Health have entered into a collaborative partnership for this endeavor. TGH will be responsible for facility and medical support services, while Lifepoint Behavioral Health will oversee the hospital's day-to-day operations.
The hospital's comprehensive range of services will be delivered by physicians affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences within the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. The facility will cater to patients spanning various age groups, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
The TGH Behavioral Health Hospital is anticipated to encompass approximately 83,000 square feet, equipped with 96 to 120 inpatient beds. Notably, it will have specialized units designed to address the needs of patients dealing with behavioral health issues along with co-occurring medical conditions.
As the demand for mental health services continues to surge, the hospital aims to provide world-class care, integrate the latest research findings, and leverage cutting-edge technologies. This initiative aspires to contribute positively to the overall health and well-being of the communities it serves.
The TGH Behavioral Health Hospital is projected to commence operations in late 2024.
