University Health Initiates $450M Hospital Expansion Project in Northeast

Introduction:

University Health broke ground on a new acute care hospital and medical office building near Lookout Road and Retama Parkway in Selma.

Features:

The 42-acre University Health Retama Hospital campus will feature a modern five-story hospital and a 100,000-square-foot connected medical office building.

Services will include a 24/7 Emergency Department, labor and delivery unit, NICU, inpatient units, operating rooms, as well as radiology and lab services.

University Health initiated construction on a 166-bed acute care hospital and medical office building near Lookout Road and Retama Parkway in Selma.

The facility, named University Health Retama, is designed for potential expansion to 268 beds, in anticipation of the region's population growth.

The facility is strategically located along the I-35 corridor to serve the growing population in the area.

University Health Retama has plans for expansion to accommodate up to 268 beds in anticipation of further population growth.

An estimated 500-600 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and staff from University Health and partner organizations, will be employed at the facilities.

Scheduled to open in 2027.
