University Health Breaks Ground on $45 Million South Side Hospital Construction Project

Introduction:

Construction has officially started on the University Health Palo Alto Hospital.

Features:

The hospital aims to serve the expanding South Side community in Bexar County with comprehensive healthcare services.

Positioned on a 68-acre campus adjacent to Texas A&M – San Antonio, the facility will consist of a five-story acute care hospital and an integrated medical office building.

The initial phase will provide 166 inpatient beds, with the potential to expand to 286 beds to meet the demands of the growing population.

University Health's expansion initiative aims to bring inpatient services closer to local families, contribute to medical research, and address healthcare needs in southern Bexar County.

The hospital will offer a range of services, including a 24/7 Emergency Department, labor and delivery unit, NICU, inpatient units, operating rooms, radiology, and lab services, scheduled to commence in 2026.

Anticipated to open in 2027.
