Introduction
University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Clinton has announced a US$62 million hospital expansion and renovation project to improve healthcare access and expand medical services in St. Johns, Michigan. Approved by the University of Michigan Board of Regents, the project will increase clinical capacity and modernise the existing hospital infrastructure to meet rising demand for inpatient, outpatient and specialty healthcare services across Clinton County and nearby communities.
Features
The expansion will include the construction of a 22,000-square-foot ambulatory clinical centre, 19,000 square feet of new hospital space, and major renovations to the current facility.
The upgraded hospital will feature an increased number of private patient rooms, expanded oncology care areas, additional space for surgical procedures, MRI services available seven days a week, a second CT scanner, and expanded primary and specialty care facilities.
The improvements are designed to enhance diagnostic capabilities, improve patient comfort and support more efficient healthcare delivery.
The project will further strengthen the role of UM Health-Sparrow Clinton as a critical access hospital and Level IV Trauma Centre serving rural communities.
The project will be funded through University of Michigan Health-Sparrow resources and represents a significant investment in strengthening regional healthcare infrastructure.
