UC Davis Health invests $3.74 Billion for New California Tower construction

Introduction:

The California Tower most advanced medical center, expanding its facilities with a state-of-the-art hospital and pavilion. These new additions will complement the existing University and Davis Towers, further enhancing the center's capabilities.

Features:

The new tower will expand the medical center’s eastern side by nearly one million square feet.

It will feature advanced facilities, including:

  • New operating rooms
  • An imaging center
  • Specialized units for pharmacy and burn care
  • Approximately 334 private patient rooms

Over 250 rooms are being designed with adaptable layouts, allowing for quick conversion into ICU rooms with air isolation capabilities.

These rooms will be ready to handle patient surges during events like pandemics, large-scale wildfires, or other emergencies.

Construction of the new California Tower is expected to be completed by 2030.
