South Georgia Medical Center Commences Berrien Hospital Expansion with Groundbreaking Ceremony for $15 Million Project

Features:

The project has a budget of $15 million and involves the addition of a new two-story emergency room, expanding the campus area by 26,000 square feet.

The new emergency department will replace the existing four-room facility, featuring a modern nine-room design to accommodate a higher capacity.

The state-of-the-art facility will include larger patient rooms, improved clinical and support spaces, and advanced monitoring systems and furnishings in the emergency department.

The expansion also encompasses a new entrance and lobby area to improve access to other hospital services.

SGMC's Berrien Campus offers a range of medical services, including inpatient and outpatient care, advanced imaging like 3-D mammography, a 12-bed geriatric psychiatric unit, and a substance abuse center.

The expansion project aims to enhance the region's access to quality healthcare and underscores SGMC's commitment to serving the community.

Construction is expected to be completed by Fall 2024, providing updated facilities for trauma and specialty care patients.
