Introduction
Our Lady of the Lake St. Elizabeth has broken ground on a US$59 million hospital expansion project in Gonzales, Louisiana. The investment will expand healthcare capacity and improve access to specialist and outpatient services for the growing Ascension Parish community. The development will strengthen connections between hospital and clinic services while creating additional capacity for future healthcare needs.
Features
The project will include a new three-storey, 71,000-square-foot medical office building featuring women’s primary care, cardiology and other specialist services.
The facility will provide diagnostic imaging, outpatient pharmacy and laboratory services, with flexible space to accommodate additional services as demand evolves.
The expansion will introduce a new welcoming facade, a redesigned shared main lobby and a second-floor connection linking the new building with the existing hospital.
Two new elevators will improve movement throughout the facility, while additional parking will support patients and visitors.
The development will also include potential space for retail and coffee kiosks, alongside redesigned reception and waiting areas and improved wayfinding to enhance the patient experience.
The existing 57-bed acute care hospital provides emergency, inpatient, surgical, diagnostic, specialty and outpatient services and manages approximately 32,000 emergency department visits annually.
The expansion is intended to support convenient, community-based care as Ascension Parish continues to grow.
