NY State Announces $1.7B Construction Initiative for Public Health Laboratory

Construction has officially started on the new $1.7 billion Wadsworth Center public health laboratory in Albany, New York. The facility will consolidate five existing sites into a single, modern campus and aims to strengthen the State's ability to detect, prevent, and respond to public health threats. The laboratory is expected to be fully operational by 2030.

The facility will cover 663,000 gross square feet across five storeys and accommodate nearly 800 staff members.
