Introduction
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has started construction on an expanded facility for its Helen & Jacob Shaham Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute in Miami, Florida. The development is backed by a US$15 million investment and aims to create a more integrated setting for paediatric cancer and blood disorder treatment, research and support services.
Features
The new institute will occupy approximately 25,500 square feet across two floors of the renovated Medical Arts Building.
The first floor will cover 17,500 square feet and provide 20 infusion bays and 10 examination rooms.
Its layout will group infusion areas into smaller care zones, with dedicated clinical and support spaces nearby.
The 8,000-square-foot second floor will include an Inflammatory Bowel Disease Suite with six infusion bays, together with offices for physicians, researchers and other staff.
The project is intended to bring clinical care, research and operational teams into a more connected environment, supporting coordinated treatment and improving the experience for children and their families.
The institute’s development follows a US$15 million philanthropic contribution from Helen and Jacob Shaham, supporting the expansion of paediatric cancer services at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
