Introduction
MercyOne Genesis is undertaking a US$1.55 million expansion and renovation of the MercyOne Genesis Family Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa, home to its Family Medicine Residency Program. The project represents an investment in physician education, primary care access and healthcare workforce development across the Quad Cities and surrounding communities.

The renovation will include two new resident rooms to expand facilities supporting the Family Medicine Residency Program.
The project will add four new examination rooms, increasing the center’s capacity to provide primary care services and accommodate growing patient demand.
The facility will also receive renovated laboratory space to support clinical operations and improve the care environment.
The front desk and reception areas will be updated as part of the project, enhancing the patient experience and overall functionality of the facility.
The MercyOne Genesis Family Medicine Residency Program is marking its 50th year of training family medicine physicians.
The program accepts up to six residents annually and has 18 residents across all cohorts.
More than 200 graduates are currently practicing medicine, with more than half continuing to practice in Iowa.
The program also offers specialized training opportunities, including rural medicine, sports medicine and international medical missions.
The expansion is expected to strengthen the residency program’s training environment while supporting the recruitment and retention of primary care physicians in the region.
