Introduction:
Memorial Regional Hospital in South Florida has announced a major $670 million expansion project to build a new Surgical and Patient Bed Tower. Approved by the South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners, this development marks one of the largest infrastructure investments in the hospital’s history and aims to meet the region’s growing healthcare demands.
Features:
The project includes over 400,000 square feet of new construction and nearly 50,000 square feet of renovations, carried out in two phases. The first phase, the new surgical tower.
The expansion will add 21 new operating rooms, including a hybrid OR for advanced imaging, and 150 acuity-adaptable beds.
Other additions include a new sterile processing department, a CT suite, satellite pharmacy, expanded pre- and post-op bays, and a new main lobby to improve access and flow.
The development will be funded through a mix of operational income, debt financing, and investments. Memorial Regional Hospital will stay fully operational throughout the construction period, with plans in place to minimise disruption.
This strategic project reinforces the hospital’s commitment to delivering modern, high-quality care and improving patient experience across South Florida.
The project is expected to be open by 2031.
