LCMC Health Announces $14 Million Expansion for Women and Newborn Services at Lakeside Hospital

Introduction

LCMC Health is investing $14 million to enhance women’s and newborn care at Lakeside Hospital. The initiative will merge existing services from East Jefferson General Hospital and Lakeside Hospital to create a state-of-the-art Women and Newborn Care Center.

Features

The expansion includes renovating the hospital’s main entrance and exterior to improve accessibility and enhance the overall patient experience.

The center will feature ten modern labor and delivery suites, thirty upgraded postpartum rooms for mothers and newborns, and three new operating theaters equipped with advanced medical technology.

Additionally, a 26-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will be staffed by neonatologists from Manning Family Children’s, along with a six-bed adult intensive care unit supported by rapid response teams.

The project also expands respiratory care, maternal-fetal medicine, and occupational therapy services, while ensuring 24-hour anesthesia coverage and access to specialist consultations.

This comprehensive upgrade is designed to strengthen specialty services and help both hospitals address the growing healthcare needs of the region.

The new Women and Newborn Care Center is expected to be completed by 2027.
