Introduction:
HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital has announced a $116 million expansion of its O’Fallon campus. The project will expand the emergency department, increase inpatient nursing capacity, and add a new outpatient surgery centre, advanced imaging services, and medical office space. The expansion supports the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality care close to home while preparing for future community needs.
Features:
The redevelopment will modernise 35,000 square feet of existing space and add 19,000 square feet of new clinical space, bringing the total construction area to 54,000 square feet.
The project includes 32 new inpatient medical and surgical beds, eight additional emergency department treatment rooms, and new diagnostic imaging equipment including a CT scanner, relocated X-ray machines, and Open MRI. The hospital will also feature a new cafeteria, servery, and kitchen area.
The $50 million outpatient surgery centre and medical office building, currently under construction, will be a three-storey, 70,000-square-foot facility housing four state-of-the-art operating suites, two additional procedure rooms, six post-anesthesia care rooms, and 16 prep and recovery stations.
The building will also provide diagnostic imaging services including X-ray and mammography. Construction is underway and expected to be completed by October 2026, with plans in place to maintain uninterrupted patient care throughout the project.
The campus expansion is expected to be completed by October 2026.
