Among its notable components is the Nick Gilbert Neurofibromatosis Research Institute (NGNRI), named in honor of the late Nick Gilbert. This institute will concentrate on studying neurofibromatosis (NF), a rare genetic disorder.
The research center is a pivotal element of the Future of Health: Detroit initiative, a $3 billion development plan.
This initiative also encompasses a major expansion of Henry Ford Hospital, mixed-income housing, and retail spaces. The center is anticipated to open its doors in 2027.
