Health First Invests $200 Million to Expand Palm Bay Hospital

Introduction:

Health First has announced plans for a significant expansion of Palm Bay Hospital in Brevard County, with a £230 million investment going towards the construction of a new five-storey patient tower.

Features:

The expanded facility will include 60 new inpatient beds, helping to ease pressure on existing services.

Key upgrades will include the relocation and doubling of the current number of Operating Rooms, Catheterisation Laboratories (Cath Labs), and Pre-Operative and Recovery areas.

The Sterile Processing Department will also be upgraded to support the enhanced surgical services.

Two floors of the new tower will remain unfinished (shelled) to allow for future expansion, potentially increasing bed capacity by an additional 60 beds as demand grows.

The development also includes improvements to patient access, better wayfinding throughout the hospital, and increased parking for both visitors and staff.

This development aims to address current capacity constraints and meet the growing healthcare needs of the Palm Bay community, which has seen rapid population growth in recent years.

The new patient tower is scheduled for completion in 2028.
