Introduction
Corewell Health is investing US$1.7 billion to expand hospital capacity and modernise healthcare facilities in Grand Rapids and Troy, Michigan. The projects will increase private patient capacity, upgrade emergency and surgical services and improve access to healthcare as demand continues to grow across both regions.

The Grand Rapids project represents an investment of approximately US$1.34 billion in a new 780,000-square-foot facility at the Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital campus.
The 11-storey facility will include 180 private patient rooms, 17 operating rooms, a new emergency department and a hyperbaric chamber.
The expansion will help address high occupancy at Butterworth Hospital, where average patient occupancy has remained above 90%.
It will also strengthen the hospital's capacity as the only Level I trauma centre in West Michigan.
Construction will involve properties at Michigan Street and Barclay Avenue and will require municipal and regulatory approvals.
In Troy, Corewell Health is investing approximately US$440 million in a new 423,000-square-foot, eight-storey hospital tower at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital.
Patient rooms will include modern technology supporting general care and intensive care services.
The Troy project is part of wider healthcare expansion plans in the area, including an ambulatory centre in Oxford, a cardiac ambulatory surgery centre in Sterling Heights and further clinical expansions.
Both hospital projects are expected to increase healthcare capacity and provide modern facilities to support future patient needs.
