Cincinnati Children's Opens New $60 Million Center to Boost Gene and Cell Therapy Trials

Introduction:

Cincinnati Children’s is developing an Applied Gene and Cell Therapy Center to enhance clinical trials for innovative drugs and biological therapeutics targeting cancer, blood diseases, and genetic disorders.

 Features:

Cincinnati Children’s Center Located in Sharonville, the center will build on the achievements of the Cincinnati Children’s Translational Core Laboratory. 

  • Approximately 100 employees, including 24 new hires, will eventually work at the center.
  • The center will occupy part of a 111,000-square-foot facility at 10995 Canal Road, previously an auto parts distribution site, situated on a 14.6-acre plot. 
  • The rest of the building will serve as a supply chain distribution hub for Cincinnati Children’s three hospitals and over 40 other locations.
  • The renovation project, with an expected initial investment of about $60 million covering design.
  • Construction, and equipment, is slated to begin in June 2024 and complete by summer 2025. 
  • Employees are anticipated to transition to the new space in fall 2025. 

Danis Construction Building Co. is the design-builder, with the design team including BHDP Architecture, Heapy Engineering for mechanical, engineering, and plumbing, Schaefer for structural engineering, and bioX for process and design engineering. Subcontractors are yet to be determined.
