Ascension Westlawn Expands Heart Services with $10M Investment

Introduction:

Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Westlawn is marking its second anniversary with plans for a significant expansion aimed at improving healthcare services for the growing communities of Blackman and Westlawn. Construction will soon begin on a new development to build out the hospital’s second floor.

Features:

The expansion will include a modern 12-room heart clinic covering 12,000 square feet. It will feature advanced outpatient imaging services, including cardiac CT scans.

The facility has treated more than 24,000 emergency patients. It has achieved an average wait time of just 10 minutes from arrival to initial evaluation. The hospital currently offers round-the-clock emergency and inpatient care, diagnostic imaging, a laboratory, and food services—all within a single location.

The new heart clinic will improve access to preventive heart screenings and specialist cardiology services. It forms part of Ascension Saint Thomas Heart, a well-established cardiovascular network in Tennessee, which includes more than 80 heart specialists across 45 sites.

By adding this specialist clinic, Ascension Saint Thomas aims to meet the growing demand for local, high-quality healthcare. The expanded services are designed to ensure that residents can access expert cardiovascular care closer to home.

The new facility is expected to open in May 2026.
