Able Medical Introduces Novel RIB System with 510(k) Clearance for Thoracic Repair

Able Medical Devices has achieved FDA 510(k) clearance for its Valkyrie RIB System, expanding its offerings in cardiothoracic and trauma care. The Valkyrie RIB System, crafted from single-use PEEK material, extends the capabilities of Able’s Valkyrie Thoracic Fixation System. It is designed for stabilizing fractures in the chest wall, reconstructive surgeries, trauma cases, and planned osteotomies.

Distinguished by its adaptive fit to the bone, the Valkyrie RIB System ensures close contact with the underlying rib without the need for plate bending tools. Utilizing advanced material science, the PEEK-based system delivers durable fixation while remaining flexible, reducing patient stress shielding and accommodating diverse anatomies. Its double-lead screws facilitate swift bone insertion, enhancing bone purchase, while the "zero-chance" cross threading design minimizes screw back out concerns.

The Valkyrie RIB System's material properties mimic native bone, reducing stress shielding risks and offering advantages over traditional metal plates. Its streamlined instrumentation prioritizes efficiency and simplicity in the operating room, making it a highly desirable solution in the market.

As part of the Valkyrie Thoracic Fixation family, the Valkyrie RIB System is tailored for stabilizing chest wall fractures, sternal reconstruction, trauma, and osteotomies in patients with varying bone quality.
