Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology, and Northwell Health, the largest healthcare provider in New York, USA, have announced a transformative seven-year agreement. The partnership aims to standardize patient monitoring, enhance patient care, and improve outcomes while driving interoperability and data innovation. This collaboration will enable Northwell Health to establish a future-proof, enterprise-wide platform, facilitating the integration of innovative technologies as they evolve and allowing for efficient scaling of patient monitoring systems.

As the leading healthcare provider in the state, Northwell Health serves a vast population of twelve million people. With 83,000 employees, 21 hospitals including flagship facilities such as North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, 850 outpatient facilities, and a prominent residency program, Northwell Health is committed to providing exceptional care. The organization also conducts groundbreaking research at the Feinstein Institutes, hosting national clinical trial sites for conditions like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and paralysis.

Phyllis McCready, Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer for Northwell Health, emphasized the need for a patient monitoring system that leverages their existing IT infrastructure, ensuring cybersecurity and local availability. The new Philips system offers an enterprise-wide platform that centralizes patient monitoring, providing a comprehensive view of each bedside. This innovative approach not only enables the adoption of the latest technology but also enhances the patient and staff experience while delivering better outcomes.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of scalability in healthcare systems like Northwell Health, which had to rapidly expand their capacity to treat patients. The Philips patient monitoring platform, coupled with their Software Evolution Services, offers a vendor-agnostic solution that utilizes the existing network infrastructure of the health system. By standardizing care and embracing monitoring innovation, Northwell Health remains at the forefront of healthcare technology.

Jeff DiLullo, Chief Market Leader of Philips North America, emphasized the role of enterprise-wide healthcare IT in streamlining operations, breaking down integration barriers, and simplifying workflows for care providers. The patient monitoring system implemented by Northwell Health minimizes manual tasks, provides a centralized view of patients, and utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to derive actionable clinical insights from vast amounts of data. These advancements contribute to better patient and staff experiences, cost reduction, and improved outcomes, aligning with the shared goal of enhancing healthcare.

Overall, the collaboration between Royal Philips and Northwell Health signifies a commitment to revolutionizing patient care through standardized monitoring, cutting-edge technology, and data-driven insights.
