Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has extended its cancer care services to meet the needs of the growing communities in south Hillsborough County. Recently, TGH opened a state-of-the-art Infusion Center at the TGH Cancer Institute's satellite location in Brandon, providing 26 bays for treatments. This expansion is part of TGH's ambitious $550 million master facility plan, aimed at bringing advanced technology and top-notch care to patients in Florida and beyond.
The new satellite location in Brandon eliminates the need for residents in south Hillsborough to travel to the main TGH campus in downtown Tampa for infusion treatments, radiation oncology, and doctor visits. Patients can also access lab work, standard imaging exams, and pharmacy services conveniently at the outpatient center.
The Infusion Center's addition enhances the Cancer Institute's capacity with seven more chemotherapy areas, making a total of 26 bays available for treatments and ensuring efficient treatment scheduling. The center is thoughtfully designed to offer a comfortable and therapeutic environment, with semi-private, private, and shared treatment spaces, as well as a dedicated area for patients' family members to relax with refreshments.
The Cancer Institute's Brandon location is staffed with a team of dedicated cancer care specialists, including physician-scientists, oncology nurses, and other healthcare professionals who provide compassionate and personalized care. They cover various specialties such as breast, lung, gynecologic, colorectal cancers, head and neck cancers, sarcomas, abdominal cancers, urologic and genital cancers, blood cancers, neurology, neurosurgery, and neuro-oncology.
Additionally, the upcoming Radiation Oncology Center at the TGH Cancer Institute in Brandon will offer evidence-based, multimodal radiation therapies, including high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy and the TrueBeam™ system for precise and efficient image-guided radiation therapy.
Through the collaboration between the TGH Cancer Institute, Tampa General Hospital, and USF Health, patients can access comprehensive and interdisciplinary care, covering a wide range of specialties, advanced subspecialties, and cutting-edge treatments. This includes hematologic malignancies, bone marrow transplant, cell therapy, thoracic, breast, colorectal, and gynecologic oncology, liver and hepatobiliary oncology, otolaryngology, and genitourinary oncology.
