The allocation of Innovative Technology contracts results from a comprehensive evaluation process within Vizient's Innovative Technology Program. These contracts are recommended by Vizient's provider customer-led councils, which seek out technologies capable of improving clinical care, enhancing patient and healthcare worker safety, or streamlining healthcare organization operations.
The Embrace® stands as a groundbreaking achievement as the world's first MRI system meticulously designed and FDA-cleared for the specific imaging needs of premature and newborn infants. This self-shielded, permanent magnet system holds the distinction of being the first MR system intended for direct placement within the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Historically, adult MRI scanners were considered unsuitable for NICUs due to size and safety concerns. The Embrace® boasts several innovative features, including a temperature-controlled patient bed that optimizes environmental conditions for infants, as well as its Whisper Quiet® sound profile, carefully crafted to meet the developmental requirements of NICU patients. These innovations cater to the intricate and specialized care needs of neonatal patients, making MRI imaging more accessible and safer for these fragile patients, and providing crucial information to the clinical care team when it is most needed.
