Ascend Performance Materials has unveiled its latest offering for the healthcare industry under the HiDura™ brand—a new portfolio of medical grade nylon 6,6 resins and engineered materials. Designed to meet ISO 10993-5 and 10993-10 testing criteria, HiDura™ MED products are suitable for a wide range of healthcare applications. These include medical durables such as braces, patient support equipment, furniture, mobility aids, and durable devices. Additionally, they are ideal for drug delivery systems like filtration equipment, membranes, tubing, fluid connectors, and auto injectors. HiDura™ MED materials are also well-suited for surgical instruments such as scalpel handles, dental instruments, forceps, and clamps. Furthermore, they can be used in medical equipment housings, protective cases, cables, sensors, connectors, and wearables. For wound care applications, HiDura™ MED offers options for sutures, tapes, and zip ties.
Dhruv Shah, Ascend's healthcare business manager, highlighted the company's commitment to delivering exceptional quality across various industry segments. The HiDura™ MED portfolio upholds the same quality standards for customers seeking solutions that comply with the rigorous requirements of the healthcare market. These solutions undergo ISO 10993-5 and 10993-10 biocompatibility testing and are supported by effective change notification policies and operational practices that ensure the highest standards are met.
Ascend remains dedicated to supporting the growth of its customers and plans to expand its healthcare portfolio further. This includes future introductions of long-chain and amorphous polyamide grades. Additionally, Ascend is actively exploring applications in medical durables and wound care utilizing its patented Acteev® technology. Acteev® incorporates active zinc ions into polyamide, providing antimicrobial benefits that help reduce the growth of microbes and extend the functionality and efficacy of medical products.
