A.Menarini Diagnostics Srl is pleased to announce the commercial launch of its PRIME MDx platform - a fully automated "sample-to-result" molecular diagnostics platform for comprehensive processing of diverse PCR test portfolios in real time.
The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly changed the molecular diagnostics market, moving it towards seamless automation, ease of use, rapid execution and high test reliability. However, despite significant advances in this field, many testing applications still rely on laboratory-developed assays and labor-intensive techniques that make it difficult to implement large-scale automated diagnostic solutions.
In response to these demands and market developments, A.Menarini Diagnostics accepted the challenge and in record time coordinated the development of a completely new solution based on the competences of its research and development department in collaboration with Italian and international partners.
The PRIME MDx platform allows users to process a wide variety of sample types thanks to the ingenious use of pre-filled plates and a universal extraction solution. Up to 5 different tests can be performed on one sample, with a maximum capacity of 240 samples per day.
The software controlled by artificial intelligence ensures perfect user comfort - from the continuous insertion of samples to the interpretation of the results.
The system will be marketed with two panels of tests, one for viral upper respiratory infections and the other for viral infections after transplantation on a wide range of sample matrices. Additional test panels to complement the offer are now under development.
" We are proud to bring to market this comprehensive innovative molecular diagnostics solution that will enable us to meet the needs of mid- to high-throughput laboratories internationally and strengthen A. Menarini Diagnostics' position in the field of molecular diagnostics," said CEO and Global Director diagnostics division in the Menarini group Fabio Piazzalunga .
After a preliminary presentation at the Medlab Middle East trade fairs in Dubai and ECCMID in Copenhagen, the PRIME MDx system will be officially presented at the WorldLab EuroMedLab trade fair in Rome from May 21 to 25.
